India has never had a shortage of snacks. What it has always lacked is honesty.
Walk down any supermarket aisle and you will find shelves lined with products that whisper healthy on the front and confess otherwise on the back. Deep-fried in palm oil. Padded with fillers. Dressed up in clean packaging to disguise compromised ingredients. For years, health-conscious Indians were forced to choose between snacks that were good for them and snacks that were actually worth eating.
We refused to accept that trade-off.
